Short version: your birth date stays in your browser.
What happens to your birth date
All calculations (age, signs, numbers, countdowns) run as JavaScript on your own device. BirthdayBump has no accounts and no database.
"Remember this date"
If you tick "Remember this date on this device", your birth date is saved in your browser's local storage under the key bb:birth, so other pages can pre-fill it. It never leaves your device that way. Clear it at any time:
AI-written portraits and messages
If you press a button to write a birthday portrait or message, the calculated facts (birth date, signs, numbers, and any name or details you typed) are sent to our server and on to an AI model through Vercel's AI Gateway to generate the text. We don't store them or use them for anything else.
Third-party lookups
The famous-birthdays page requests a month and day from the Wikimedia API. The rising-sign page sends the city name you type to Open-Meteo's geocoding service. Neither receives your birth year.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which is cookieless and counts page views without identifying you.
Share links
Countdown links contain only a month, day and optional first name you choose.
